    I spent quite a bit of time reading reviews on Amazon to find a great survival bracelet for a couple of young friends. Unfortunately, I must have clicked on the wrong item. I’ll be giving them to the boys this afternoon, and I hope they enjoy them, but I definitely won’t be purchasing these again. Time to search for better survival bracelets that actually work.

    Here’s the breakdown:

    • The package arrived on time, so that’s a point in favor of this product.
    • The paracord bracelet is well-made and easily adjustable. It feels comfortable on the wrist.
    • The buckle and whistle function perfectly.
    • The compass on one of the bracelets seems to work, although I have no reliable compass to compare it against. The other compass might work too, but neither points to true north, so they are only good for play.
    • The light is hit or miss; sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
    • Unfortunately, the cover for the scraper used with the magnesium rod fell off one of the bracelets before we could even use it, and there’s no way to reattach it.
    • As a bonus, if you manage to pull out the little scraper, it’s t-shaped and contains two tiny screwdrivers—one flat-head and one Phillips-head. They’re cute, but I expect they’ll be lost soon.
    • The small tool that you can pull out is just as adorable as the screwdrivers. It has a scraper for cleaning nails, a graduated wrench that fits nothing, a minuscule saw that can’t even cut paper, and something called ‘bike banners’ that I couldn’t identify after several online searches.
    • The thermometer is so tiny with markings that are nearly impossible to read. I had to use a loupe to make out the numbers, and even then, the readings are in Celsius. (Note to self: get loupes and Celsius-to-Fahrenheit charts for the boys.)
    • I have no clue what the sim pin is for; it looks like a reset pin from my fitness tracker or the loop handle that Apple has for their phones.

    These small tools are neat, but they’re a bit too tiny to really provide any leverage, making them feel more like sharp bits of metal than useful implements. Sure, they might come in handy for opening boxes, but I can’t imagine using them for tasks like taking apart my bracelet or as a box cutter. The wrench, in particular, is so tiny and smooth that it’s practically useless.

    As for the compass, it simply doesn’t work. I’ve faced it west, and every time I check it while sitting at my coffee table, the needle just swings around randomly. It should point west from here without fail. I had another compass that came with a watch—it looked cheaper and smaller, but at least it functioned properly. This one is completely ineffective.

    I got this to use as a smartwatch band, hoping for some extra functionality on my wrist, but it’s not worth it if I don’t plan on using the tools. The light works well and provides enough brightness for navigating in the dark, but I’m not sure about its effectiveness for an SOS signal.

    Honestly, it would be better to just buy some paracord and little trinkets separately; you’ll get a better setup that way.

    This camping experience was fantastic! The site was well-maintained, offering beautiful views and easy access to hiking trails. The facilities were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the peaceful atmosphere, perfect for unwinding in nature. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to escape and enjoy the great outdoors!

    This is not a survival bracelet; it’s more like a “don’t survive” bracelet. The compass is inaccurate, and the thermometer consistently displays the same temperature. The paracord is just an outer shell without the inner core strands. I was hesitant to test the LED feature. And, of course, it’s made in China. 😐
